Maybe you could "surprise me" by showing me activity since my last login and list topics I haven't volunteered an answer to or voted on, 'cos when it scales due to SEO optimization bringing in the masses that sort of thing will become important.
I continue to have a problem finding new material since my last visit. I need an rss feed or a link following login which shows that activity so I can better contribute. /edit: I can see RSS now on topics, but I would like to see a global RRS feed so that I pick up on new topics and don't have to search... /edit: I can see RSS now on topics, but I would like to see a global RRS feed so that I pick up on new topics and don't have to search manually. In my profile I have all notifications selected for as they happen but new stuff is not notified, mainly new topics and answers to new topics that I haven't commented on. [show less]
As MFC grows, repetition and deviation may become less obvious. Currently, there is no way to flag duplicate topics and answers to the Community Manager beyond adding a comment or sending an email.

I don't see how you change change your Feedback password to make it different than your MW hosting password, which makes it seem like hosting and feedback share an authentication system. But when feedback tells me it never heard of my MW hosting username, it makes it hard to sign in for the first time. [show less]

I keep hitting the "get image" button by accident, when what I really intend to do is browse for an image on my desktop. But there's no way to cancel the "get image" action; the page just hangs and hangs. And clicking the "Nevermind" link erases the entire answer. This could also perhaps be resolved with better usability. For example, why does the page "do" anything if I've not entered a URL in the "get image" field before hitting the "get image" button? It should return a "you must enter a url first" error. [show less]

Think of it as a sound bite to go with the answer image.

If you extend the profile to capture all the languages spoken by each member of the community and then flag posts that need translation to members able able and willing to provide manual translation then the results will be significantly more accurate.
All community members would be shown posts in their preferred language order, with the language of the initial post being the default if no preferred language was available. Those translating would have the added ability to do just that for each language they could handle.
For each post that is not in each members primary language there would be a means making a translation request. Priorities for each language of each post would be determined by aggregating all languages spoken by each of the requesters and sorting them to ensure popular language requests take priority.
Flags with priority markers would be visible until a translation took place but only to those who have that language in their profile. Erroneous translations could be reportable and translation rights revoked if necessary.
Ideally this should be embedded in a way that allows requests and translations to occur during normal use, though consideration should also be given to separate interface to manage all translations.
This would be challenging to implement and a real test of community. [show less]
There is no way to refer to a specific comment or identify the comment # e.g. .../comment/NNN and if you do this you are taken to the answer not the comment.
Feedback will inevitably attract answers and highlight weaknesses you may prefer kept private. I can think of one right now that I've already pointed out to John which I won't repeat here for security reasons.
Separately, there's the issue that solicited feedback can be used by competitors whom of course need only sign up and sign in to analyze your strengths and weaknesses and your likely future intentions.
So, I would say that before minds are leveraged with grūpthink we need to first address the stregths and weaknesses of grūpthink ahead of anything else.
Thanks, Delta. We should probably add a note to the community guidelines (http://feedback.modwest.com/pages/1), discouraging public posts that could potentially be used to compromise data integrity. That is always our highest priority.
As far as competitors go, we are not really concerned at all about other web hosts seeing the feedback we get here. There is always the chance that we could attract imitators, but we're used to that :)
We fully expect to attract negative feedback, and that's really part of the reason we are launching this community. We want to learn what our customers biggest needs are.
We believe we have far more to gain than lose from being open with the conversations here, so I hope everyone feels free to be candid.
I like the additional imagery with today's upgrade. It's a great improvement to to user interface. The squiggle infestation isn't confined to the quilt anymore ;)

No one has posted to this topic for awhile.
Have the veteran users had any recent revelations for improving the community?
How about the newcomers, anything we could do to make the community easier to use?
